I think going from first with about about 65-70% of market share to third with about 20-25% marketshare is a little more embarrassing.
Actually MS took alot of market share away from Sony, they have done a very good job this gen. Playstation was a much better brand name than Xbox was back in 2005. So MS needed that year head start so people would give the new Xbox a chance even though the last Xbox wasn't that great.Either way Sony has nothing to bragg about because they are the only comapny ot of the 3 to lose market share, and alot of it. So they should be embarassed.Also, don't get your hopes up that PS3 is going to outsell 360, cause I don't see it happening, remember MS has alot more leverage, and can drop there price more than Sony can, as the 360 is cheaper to make.

Considering how much the PS2 dominated last gen and this gen the PS3 is still millions behind the only one embarressed is Sony. MS grew in numbers from last gen to this one but Sony lol not so much

Why are we talking about this when the gap is still so huge? If the 360 was ahead by only 1-2 million then that would be fine. But it's at 8 million, and the PS3 won't have a chance to pass it for at least the next 3-4 years.
MS didn't fail. They made progress.

Sony was Market dominator enjoyed massive 3rd party support and had established an unassailable brand, then they released the PS3 as a trojan horse for Blu Ray, and took them about two years to actually build up a decent library of games and to even get to a point where they were competitive, they are currently languishing in thrid with 5 billion in losses and still losing money on the hardware whilst their main competitor enjoy's profitable hardware and steady yearly subscription fee's for online services, not to mention usually managing to shift a greater amount of software, Even if they do manage to shift a larger number of units than MS in the end it will be a hollow victory because MS will have gained market share and brand awareness Nintendo will have gained market share and brand awareness sony will have lost both and as such lose, now as a gamer this doesn't realy matter much to me as long as the games keep coming (and Sony were actually much stronger at this over the last 12 months or so.) Yet in reality MS will be anything but embarrased with their performance this gen and Sony will be anything but proud. That said the greater level of competition this gen should provide an interesting couple years as we move forward in the videogames industry.

that would be sony. look at the difference from xbox to 360, the 360 saw a huge increase. look at the ps3 to the ps2, an insane drop in consoles sold. now, before you go all cow crazy, please remember that at the current selling rate of the ps3, it would take 17 years to match the ps2s sales.

MS won't be embarassed with the year lead and cheaper console mostly throughout the lifetime, if the PS3 surpass's the 360 in sales?
MS is a baby in video gaming yet they made the best console ive ever owned. MS ftw! it doesnt matter to me if ps3 takes over, 360 remains the best console for me.
