Their main complaints seemed to be the shallow combo system (basically, you can one hit 70% of the opponents so you don't get to use your complex combos very often), and the fact that the combo is very similar to GoW and nothing new.Do you think for people who don't own a PS3, Dante's Inferno is a pretty decent substitute? The fact that the game did a lot right, and really one of IGN's biggest complaints was the lack of combat originality (aka, its a GoW takeoff) makes me think it might be. As someone who doesn't own a PS3 owner, I frankly don't care how much they shamelessly took from GoW or whatever. GoW3 is likely to be a superior game, but Dante's lack of originality is in a way a decent way to get some of that experience on the xbox.Thoughts?

i thought the gfx was the worst part in the game ( Demo talking ) , anyway i was so excited for this game coz of its story, but overall, i will most probably skip this even if i didn't get GOW3 but who knows.
its got a 7.5 for being a clone not for being bad.
I'm still interested in Dante's Inferno, but I won't be buying it.

I'm a PS3 owner and I'll still play it. It's not like, hey I can only play this game cause it does it best. Honestly, I can't see GOW3 beating Bayonetta.

How is 7.5 average?I don't understand the complaint about gratuitous shock content. The main appeal of this game is the setting, which is supposed to be extremely grotesque.

Well TC, only thing to do is to buy or rent it, and see for yourself ^^Its somewhat mediocre score is due to it being a carbon copy, in a slightly different setting.Even then, some of the best games Ive ever playied was in the 7-9 score range, rarely above and rarely below, sometimes a low score can be because it does not appeal to everyone or is sort of quirky.I dont think Dantes Inferno is a bad game, and I do think it will be a good substitute for the GOW series. Havent through the game tho, so I cant really truely answer this without ''if''s and ''but''s
Of course not, GOW is a AAA series, and GOW III is a lock for a 9 at least. IGN gave DI a 7.5, and they tend to overrate games... I expect no higher than a 6.5 or 7 from GS.
Short answer is YES. The story and places you fight in are definately not on par with GOW, but the controls are almost identical and the game does run really smooth. This game is being bashed for being a copy, which is exactly what makes it a ''semi-decent'' substitute.
