WTF PS3 game resolution

So decided to try battlefield bad company 2 and AVP demos on my ps3 to compare with the PC versions. The PS3 version of avp is still looking for a game and bad company 2 looks bad on my tv,TV is a 40inch Samsung LED.The thing that got me is that for both games my TV is saying the resolution is 720x576. WTF thats not HD. Blu rays looks great on my TV through the PS3 so nothing wrong with my hdmi cable,Is there a way you can increase the resolution of games on the PS3.I can't belive people say there is not much difference between console versions and PC. Bad company 2 looks like a ps2 game incomparisonto the PC version.WTF PS3 game resolution
Yep, the difference is there and it's massive. The PS3 is stilll the best console choice though....after a nice PC.WTF PS3 game resolution

You need to overclock your PS3
PS3 and 360 90% of the time arent running in HD. Both are equally bad at it.
Check ''720p'' box in display options.
yep ps3 games are pretty low res compared to pc ones. i think one of the only games on the ps3 with a proper res of 1920x1080 is fat princess.

Under settings>display settings i have it set to 1080p. Is there another setting i need. Using an hdmi cable and blu rays and dvds all play at 1920x1080. just games that seem to be really low res.

Check 720p too. Some games dont support 1080p scaling and they output in 720x576 if 720p is not checked.
Most PS3 and XBOX360 games run at native 720p which is HD. Only a select few games have 1080p.

If you're using HDMI, just do the auto-detect and let the TV tell the PS3 exactly what resolutions it supports. It may seem like a good idea to fight against it and force it into 1080p mode, but it's not.
