Whats the best Silent Hill game?

Another week and another best of franchise poll. Now we all love Konami, and Silent Hill is one of the reasons we do. This Franchise is possibly scarier than Resident evil ever was, and in some games perfected how stories should be told in video games. So, what Silent hill game is truly the greatest of its horrifying Franchise?___________________________________________________________Silent Hill: Gave us the first glimpse of what philological horror is like when applied to games.Silent Hill 2: Had a downright perfect story, and atmosphere that would creep out even the most grizzled men, and women.Silent Hill 3: Possibly the scariest, and hardest of the silent hill games while continuing on the story of the first game.Silent Hill 4: Was just as scary as the other games while having the same great atmosphere, and story.Silent Hill Shattered Memories: Re-imagined the first game while retooling the gameplay. Was an overall great game.___________________________________________________________ps. Homecoming, and origins where horrible games so I'm not even going to bother putting them on the list no matter how much you whine about it :PWhats the best Silent Hill game?

Smart mouth :P
Silent Hill 3

Creepy game.

But any Silent Hill game has nothing on the Fatal Frame series for creepiness.
Easily Shattered Memories, unless they do to Silent Hill 2 what they did to the original...that game would blow mind chunks everywhere o.0
Shattered Memories.

Fantastic game.

I have to disagree with you on that. Physiologically, silent hill is creepier based entirely on the fact that the horrors come from the main characters own mind in the silent hill games.

Yes there is a more personal relationship with the character, so it feels more real, taking snapshots of ghosts isn't quite as intense, it may have more ''scare''-horror, but Silent Hill is more of the, everything in this entire game is horror kind of idea.
the original silent hill. With Harry Mason. It is my memorable silent hill to date. Dahlia Gellespi is one creepy woman. :?

Dont get me wrong, Im a massive fan of the silent hill series. Just that I prefer the atmosphere of Fatal Frame. What you cant see, and what's lurking just around the corner, spooky audio

I'm aware ive just described Silent Hill no doubt. Just my feelings on what I think has more impact.
I have never played a Silent Hill game.

dude, your missing out man.
I'd have to say SH2 is the best in the series. Great writing, graphics, and a super creepy atmosphere.

Maybe I am. I don't see myself rectifying that anytime soon, though.
It's a tie between 2 and 3, I chose 3
Haven't played Shattered memories, so I'd say either the original or SH2.I remember freaking out big time with the original, but I think I'll go with SH2. PH pwns all.Plus there's nothing more terrifiying that knowing your life is being manipulated by... A DOG!!! Oh, and I actually lol'd with the UFO ending

lol I love those silly silent hill endings
Silent Hill 2 really did it for the series. Tho I really like alot of the music in 4.
Also SH2 introduced one of the most terrifying enemies; Pyramid Head. Plus, it got the most meaning for that specific enemy than what is recreated in others.
