I'm confused about sales numbers...

So, I heard that the PS3 worldwide sales were at 31 million, and this was before the Q3 report that was just recently released. The report noted 6.5 million console sales in Q3... but now I'm hearing the PS3 has 33.5 million consoles moved. So I don't understand... 31 + 6.5 = 33.5???Yes, I probably sound like an idiot, but I have no idea how all this business stuff works, when the numbers are from, how they react with each other, etc etc. So if anybody can help me understand the information, I would be really greatful.I'm confused about sales numbers...
The 31 million was an estimate, the 33.5 million is the official sales numbers release from Sony.I'm confused about sales numbers...

ah, well that would do it.

Is there a website that actually keeps tabs on these numbers? I know NPD is only US sales.

hmmm i heard that they're accurate after the numbers are released, but usually off the mark beforehand, because it's all guesswork before then. Sound about right?
It works like this... They throw numbers out there, that arent totaly accuarate to generate good solid press about their consoles current potential. No outlet can track world wide numbers accurately and anyone who believes they can is moron... These are called estimates and at the end of the day they mean absolutly nothing to those of us playing the games.

Somehow, I don't think that Sony and Microsoft are just blatantly lying about their numbers.

The 31 million was the figure a Sony exec gave in an interview
