Thats just from experience, and if you wanna say its my internet connection I will tell you that its been tested at 15/5 mb's. Downloading heavy rain and its saying 900 minutes. unreal. Guess you are gonna say traffic, well i downloaded the halo wars demo which was the most dl'd download on day 1 and no way was it ever this slow.PSN downloads are about 14 times slower ...
Did you mathematically work out 14 times, or is it just an arbitrary number? It's well known PSN is slower than Live, but it's not a big deal.PSN downloads are about 14 times slower ...
PSN definitely varies a lot, I've had downloaded demos finish in 15 minutes or so, but I've also had ones downloading for an hour or so before they froze at 73% complete and never started up again.
Considering the service is free, I really don't mind. Not sure if a Premium option on the PSN could ever change that but that'd be nice. I've noticed with at least my internet connection that my XBL downloads are a tiny bit faster than my PSN downloads. Then again, the only content I've ever downloaded from XBL are a few add-ons.Edit: Then again, my PS3 is connected wirelessly while my Xbox 360 isn't.
I downloaded both BC2 demos and they took almost the same time,so this is instant fail.
Well ask yourself, how much is that worth?
25 min download for BFBC 2 for me. You fail :
|Well according to MTV, PSN downloads faster, so......
it's been studied much more in-depth than what you are doing. and psn has multiple universal servers, leaving heavy rain due to dev location on one of the crappiest. in studies psn proves slightly faster downloading an identicle test file the study used (rick astley's never gonna give you up, if you must know.)
It can vary, sometimes PSN can be faster, sometimes XBL is faster.
14 times slower? yeah that sounds about right.I mean i know for a fact that i've spent more time on a single firmware update for the ps3, then i have on every single firmware update for the original xbox and 360, and game update combined.
I hate the download/install process on PSN. Ive had numerous times where i would start up a game and get hit with multiple update promps. sometimes it would take 15+ mins just to get a game started. its took me over an hour to get the MAG beta started.
It depends entirely on the person's connection and router.
A lot of factors.

according to me mtv lied...and mtv is not a reliable video gaming source any ways.
It depends entirely on the person's connection and router.
That's defiantely a part of it, however the servers make up the other part. I can get up to 10+mbps, however doesn't mean i'm always downloading at 1mb/s.
It depends entirely on the person's connection and router.
no it doesn't
I have a comcast 20Mbps down, 5 Mbps up docsis 3.0 connection, as well as a WRT54G2 router both my ps3 and 360 are connected via ethernet and the ps3 is vastlys lower when it comes to downloading games from psn, to firmware and game updates.

The 360's updates are >20mb.

Go figure. But it's not your connection, right ?I am using a wired connection. When I used wireless, it would take much longer thanI wanted. With the PS3, I would have to say that wired is the way to go, unless you cannot and need wireless of course.
