For me, my favourite genre is Action Adventure. I love the sense of being introduced to a world and exploring it, meeting the characters and uncovering the story and all its intricacies. They are usually longer and more memorable than shooters, less daunting and more polished than RPG's and yet always manage to feel fresh. Action Adventure is a pretty broad genre these days, but for me, the defining game for this genre is none other than Batman: Arkham Asylum.
The voice acting is top-notch (especially Mr. Hamill's masterful performance of The Joker), the atmosphere envelops you into the Batman mythos (with clever puzzles and cameos), the combat is simple yet satisfying and best of all, you truly feel like The Dark Knight. It was my personal GOTY for 2009 (sorry Uncharted 2 :P) and stands out as my favourite game for my favourite genre. So, what's yours System Wars? :)Your favourite game from your favourite ...
Vampires the Masquerade in RPGs. Witcher, ME2 and BG2 come close for me, but the characters and world presented in vampires just has not been beat....Your favourite game from your favourite ...
Fallout 3>>>>All
My favorite genre was RPG now its also Action Adventure :p Mine has to beor,if it counts,
Persona 3, RPG. Dunno what it is about it. The story? characters? Music? Difficulty? It all adds up to something great for me.
My fav is Action Adventure. Does Metroid Prime count? I love that game. If not, then maybe Zelda OOT...or is it an RPG :?
RTS'es are my favorite genre, and while it's a really heated competition, it has to go to AOK.

Persona 3, RPG. Dunno what it is about it. The story? characters? Music? Difficulty? It all adds up to something great for me.
Did you play Persona 4? :o
The last part of the game is a blatant copy of Persona 3's ending few months, just with new characters. It was hugely disappointing
My favorite is Action/Adventure, so MGS3 wins. My real all time favorite game is Halo: CE, though.

But I must play it! It's just too good! :P

My favorite genre is JRPGs and this is my favorite game.
Well I can see what you mean, but I wasn't super fond of the last bits of P3 because
I reached the top floor super early, so I ended up having to spend my time grinding in that 2nd dungeon, and last boss became literally a joke
sure its in part my fault, but still, I liked Persona 4 a bit more because I liked some of the characters more, and controlling them in combat made that a lot better too.. each scene where you find out something deeply personal about the characters helped make them well defined. And yeah way too much dungeon grind in P3..

I loved them both, but P3 was better to me. The story was more engaging and memorable.

I suppose, I just have a thing for mysteries, so that made the story better for me, and less grinding more plot helped quite a bit too, it managed to be nearly as long as P3, with much, much less time spent in dungeons, I liked the characters more overall since I didn't really like the dog or Ken that much as characters, while I liked pretty much the whole cast of P4, mostly like I said, due to their ''awakening'' scenes. Controlling your party too... thats a big one.

That all kind of balances out in P3 Portable though, so its moot to me I guess. Gameplay isn't really Persona's strongest aspect anyway, much as it pains me to admit that. So I found it kind of hard to get past Persona 4's shortcoming in story.
